-Die Korkeichen werden in Portugal von Hand geschält und der Kork in kleinen Stücken auf den Baumwollgrund angebracht. So entstehen die unterschiedlich marmorierten Flächen aus einem nachwachsenden Rohstoff.
-Die Korkeiche muss alle 9-13 Jahre geschält werden damit sie ihr Höchstalter von 300 Jahren erreichen kann. Wenn er ungeschält bleibt, stirbt der Baum nach ca.80 Jahren.
